Seasonal Blues
Crisp sky blue- the autumn blue
Icy cold, crystalline, pristine
You are Michigan to me.
I love the smell of a crisp sky blue
Clean, void, without malice
Clear of expectations.
It's the smell of snow and ice
Yet they haven't shown
Their faces yet.
Sky blue is a waiting blue,
A patient blue-
It turns into a jealous blue.
Blue-black cumulo-nimbus
Is my sky blue in a rage-
The storm after the calm.
Blue-black is winter and snow
The whip of the wind, the sting of ice cold
Blue-black clouds in a rage.
Silent, deadly, long and hard.
Blue-black fights as it recedes
It screams, it howls,
It makes the world know its displeasure.
Blue-black feels like forever...
Azure is rain and grass
It's Sunday morning dew, rainbows and wet dogs.
Azure forgives, grows, warms, loves.
She is the color of Right.
The righting of blue-black's foul mood.
Azure is short, sweet, kind and docile.
Azure blue skies are welcoming after the winter
Of blue-black's discontent.
Cornflower blue leaves you
Breathless.
It's hot, sticky, humid.
Cornflower makes a girl long
For sky blue, for jealous blue, for a vengeful blue.
Cornflower ushers in heat and hiding away.
Cornflower blue delights in those dog-days,
Drives us into those crashing waves, lapping pools.
Cornflower blue brings me back to open skies-
And we wait with this blue
We wonder about the long forgot
Other blues:
When will their time come again?
In dreams
I see Michigan and I am awash
In her seasons of blue.
