Ring of Power

Okay, so here's the thing: I could not get a single one of my teacher friends to take pictures with me and the Ring of Power. Seriously. I mean, what kind of friends are these? The other tragic happening of the decade was that the digital camera I used to take the pictures of me and the ring of power over this past weekend seems to hate me. Well, not the camera, but the memory card. For some reason it up and stopped working. So now the camera beeps at me and tells me that there is a memory card error. ARGH!

So, to prove to you that the ring has powers- witness my mom and the ring.


We went to Carolina Beach to take a free educator's cruise (more like get on a big boat and take it to a small island) to give me an idea if I wanted to bring this up for a field trip for my students next year. The answer to that question is no. Not because it wasn't cool, but it's not the right curriculum for fifth grade. In fact, we totally ditched the presenters once on the island and picked up shells instead.

There was one insanely annoying family that Mom was using the ring against in the above picture. They were sitting behind us in the little restaurant at breakfast. Mom noticed that the kids had some HIGHLY charged meals for the morning: chocolate waffles and chocolate, chocolate chip pancakes. And to drink? Chocolate milk. The real scary part was when we all got on the boat we realized who these people were. The three year old son actually tried to bite his mother when she was trying to get him to calm down and stop behaving badly! The only reason he didn't actually bite his mom? Because she declared he was a "pain in the butt" and wriggled her arm away from his teeth at the last moment. *cringe* I looked at Mom and said: "You and Dad would have slapped the living crap out of us if we had ever done something like that. Hell, you would have dragged us off the boat!" Mom concurred.

So...we had to use the ring of power against the evil child and it worked! The entire trip back from the island the child slept...with his eyes open! I swear, if we could have gotten a picture of this without alarming the twenty other people on the boat then we would have. Mom put on the ring and BAM! The kid was asleep on the deck and his eyes were closed, then suddenly creeped open and stayed that way. EVIL CHILD!

I'm going to keep trying to access the pictures. If anyone has any brilliant ideas, feel free to post them. Its a 512MB SD and it has only given the error message once before. All we did the first time was pop it out and pop it back in and viola! Fixed. Not so this time. I keep trying and it just hates me instead.
